ATIA Director, Joyce Bartels-Daal will be speaking at the 30th Jamaica Employers Federation Conference. This year's theme is "Exceute, Grow, Sustain". The Annual Busines & Workplace Convention & Expo starts today, May 3, 2012 and ends on May 6, 2012.

Joyce will be presenting "“Off the wall and into hearts and mind: Actions to make organization values a living thing”. This presentation will take place on Friday, May 4, 2012 from 11:00 am to 12:15 pm

Atia and Aruba Bank

In November 2011 the Aruba Trade and Industry Association in collaboration with Aruba Bank had the honor to have Mr. Roberto Giannetti da Fonseca as our guest on the island. Mr. Giannetti is the Director of the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade of FIESP, the Federation of Industries of Sao Paulo. FIESP supports private enterprise and market economy and is the voice for 131 industry associations, which represent approximately 150 thousand companies of all sizes and from different production chains. FIESP is the largest professional association of Brazilian industry (www.fiesp.com.br).

During his stay, Mr. Giannetti met with the Prime Minister, Mr. mr. Mike Eman, the Minister of Tourism, Transit and Labor, Mr. Otmar Oduber, the Minister of Integration, Infrastructure and the Environment, Mr. Benny Sevinger, and the Minister of Economic Affairs, Social Affairs, and Culture, Ms. Michelle Hooyboer. He also met the Directors of Freezone Aruba N.V. and the Aruba Ports Authority.

In connection with the aforementioned visits and meetings and at the initiative of ATIA and Aruba Bank, a trade mission will be organized to Brazil between March 5 and 9, 2012. The mission will focus on the commercial and economic cooperation between interested institutes, organizations and companies. The mission’s agenda will be composed in consultation with the Department of Foreign Affairs, as far as Brazilian Authorities are concerned, and with ATIA, as far as the FIESP is concerned . FIESP will coordinate the matchmaking during this mission between the Aruban companies and the Brazilian companies.

Mr. Robert Giannetti da Fonseca has invited the Prime Minister of Aruba on behalf of the FIESP to lead this mission and we have requested the Director of the Directorate of Foreign Relations to coordinate this request.

The main objectives to participate in the Trade Mission Aruba-Brazil are:

  • creating business opportunities for the local merchants, market Aruba as a hub in the Caribbean, attract Brazilian investors for local projects,
  • create alliances with Brazilian financial institutions,speed up the process of creating direct flights to/from Brazil and
  • formalize the cooperation between ATIA and FIESP.

We invite you as a member of Aruba Trade & Industry Association to be part of this mission and discover the business possibilities that exist outside of the Aruban borders.

ATIA will make the following arrangements for the participants:

  • travel
  • lodging
  • transportation between airport and hotel
  • transportation to and from the meeting facilities at FIESP
  • organization of matchmaking meetings
  • participation in joint events

VERY IMPORTANT INFORMATION

Yellow Fever (Gele Koorst):
Please note that taking a yellow fever vaccine is mandatory when travelling to Brazil (minimum of 10 days prior to travelling).
If you've already been vaccinated, please note that the vaccination is valid for 10 years. The Brazilian authorities are very strict on the yellow fever vaccination. Travelling with your yellow passport is mandatory and if you do not have a valid vaccination you risk not being allowed into the country.
You can be vaccinated on weekdays (Monday through Friday)at DBZ (Dienst Besmettelijke Ziekten) which is located behind the Laboratory in Oranjestad between 8.00 AM and 12.00 PM or between 2.00 PM and 4.00 PM. Costs: Awg. 32,-

Passports and visa
For holders of the Dutch passport a Visa is not required. Holders of any other passport should check if applying for a Visa is required.
It is very important to check the expiring date of your passport. The passport should still be valid 6 months after departure date from Brazil on March 9th.
Please be advised that it officially takes 2 weeks to renew your passport (in practice it can be 1 week, but no guarantees are given) with delivery from the Netherlands Friday afternoon. In case of emergency the Governor's office might be able to assist.
